Moldova's Stoianoglo pledges unity on final campaign day
On the final day of the campaign, Alexandr Stoianoglo, the Socialist Party candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Moldova, made an appeal to all voters and supporters, including those backing candidates who did not advance to the second round of the presidential elections.
In his message to the public, Stoianoglo promised to serve as a non-partisan and impartial president, committed to the interests of all citizens. He stressed that, if elected, he would transform the proposals of the first-round candidates—"who fought for a better Moldova"—into tangible initiatives for the public.
“As president, I pledge to turn the solutions proposed by everyone who fought for a better Moldova into practical initiatives for the benefit of our citizens. I promise that these programs will form a vital platform for dialogue. (…) My aim is to ensure Moldova’s security, peace, and well-being, beyond politics. I will be a president for all, and I will never divide the people or the nation. My candidacy is a firm commitment to building a Moldova where every voice is heard and every community is supported.”
Today, November 1, marks the final day permitted for election campaigning in the second round of the race for the presidency of the Republic of Moldova. Campaigning is prohibited on Saturday and on election day.
On Sunday, November 3, in the second round of the presidential election, the two candidates with the most votes in the first round will compete. These are Maia Sandu, the Action and Solidarity Party candidate, who garnered 42.49% of the vote, and Alexandr Stoianoglo, the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova candidate, who received 25.95%.
