Maia Sandu was congratulated by international leaders after she won a new mandate as head of state following the November 3 elections. European officials, including leaders from neighboring countries, welcomed the pro-European orientation of the Republic of Moldova and assured Maia Sandu of their full support.
"Ukraine supports the European choice of the Moldovan people and is ready to work together to strengthen our partnership. Moldovans have made a clear choice - they have chosen a path to economic growth and social stability," wrote the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky on social networks.

The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, congratulated Maia Sandu for the "historic victory" and emphasized that Romania remains "the most involved supporter of the development of the Republic of Moldova".

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz praised the pro-European direction adopted by Maia Sandu and congratulated her for her ability to lead the Republic of Moldova "through difficult times".

Maia Sandu won the second round of the presidential elections on Sunday, according to preliminary data. The PAS candidate enters history and thus becomes the first politician in the country to whom the citizens entrust, by direct vote, two consecutive mandates as president.
