The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, in solidarity with Turkey and Syria: "Our thoughts and prayers are with you"
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Natalia Gavrilița, sent her condolences to the families of the victims of the earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria today, February 6, as well as speedy recovery to the injured.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Turkey and Syria following the devastating earthquake this morning. Condolences to the families of the victims and we hope for the speedy recovery of the injured," the prime minister wrote on her Twitter account.
We remind you that an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit southern Turkey on Monday, near the city of Gaziantep. The earthquake, which was followed by 42 aftershocks, was felt throughout southeastern Turkey, but also in Lebanon, Syria and Cyprus. So far, more than 1,500 people have died in Turkey and Syria, and thousands more have been injured. Authorities fear that the death toll could rise dramatically in the coming hours. In the afternoon, the center of Turkey was hit by another devastating earthquake, estimated at 7.7 degrees on the Richter scale.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE), from the checks carried out up to the present moment, there are no Moldovan citizens injured or hospitalized, following the earthquake. Diplomacy from Chisinau assures that the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Ankara is ready to provide aid to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the areas affected by the earthquake.
