Language bridge: Ukrainian children thrive in Chișinău
The number of Ukrainian refugee children enrolling in Chișinău's educational institutions continues to increase. Over 1,400 students are now attending local schools and high schools, while 410 are enrolled in kindergartens.
The Monahov family from Odessa has successfully integrated into the Moldovan community. Their children have adapted well to their new schools and made friends, while their mother, Olga, is diligently learning Romanian to support their academic journey.
Constantin, a third-grader at the Vasile Lupu Lyceum, has developed a passion for mathematics and is enthusiastically studying Romanian. His older sister, Ecaterina, a sixth-grader at the same school, initially faced challenges but has persevered and made significant progress.
Olga Monahov, the children's mother, has been warmly welcomed by the Moldovan community. She has actively participated in Romanian language courses to better assist her children's education.
Currently, 1,838 Ukrainian refugee children are enrolled in Chișinău's pre-schools and schools, reflecting a 44-child increase from the previous week.
