Moldova’s Parliament to review EU-aligned legislation and treaties
Members of Parliament will convene for a plenary session on Friday, November 8.
The Permanent Bureau members have approved the agenda for parliamentary sessions scheduled from November 8 to 15.
According to a statement from the Legislature, Members of Parliament will review several bills aimed at aligning national legislation with European Union directives. These bills address a range of areas, including the provision of digital content and services, freedom of establishment for service providers, policies for the aquaculture sector, amendments to the legal framework for sole proprietorships, and regulations on bank recovery and resolution.
Parliament is also expected to ratify several agreements, including an agreement with Canada for financial assistance of 120 million Canadian dollars; an agreement with the French Development Agency to provide budgetary support for Moldova’s transition to a green economy; and a Protocol amending the Convention for avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion on income and capital, signed with the Government of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Another agreement up for ratification involves financing from the World Bank to support energy renovations in 46 schools nationwide and to modernize the centralized thermal energy supply system in the municipality of Chisinau. Additionally, an agreement for establishing a branch of "Angel Kanchev" University from Ruse, Republic of Bulgaria, in Moldova, will also be ratified.
During this period, Members of Parliament will also consider, in a first reading, amendments to various laws and regulations, including the Insolvency Law, the Seeds Law, the Law on the Status of Military Personnel, the Law on the Organization and Conduct of Tourist Activities, the Museums Law, the Law on Air Pollution Charges, the Law on Social Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities, and the Law on the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund.
In addition, Members of Parliament will debate a draft law on the practice of the psychology profession and will make amendments to legislation related to sanctions for the illegal manufacture or sale of military service uniforms.
