46 schools in the country will be energetically renovated with the support of the World Bank
The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) will finance the energy renovation of 46 schools throughout the country, as well as the modernization of the centralized thermal energy supply system in the municipality of Chisinau. The Parliament ratified the Loan Agreement between our country and the IBRD in order to implement the "Sustainable transition through energy efficiency in Moldova" project.
"By this project we intend to invest in the energy efficiency of buildings in the educational sector, to save on energy bills, and the money we save to go to improve the quality of the educational process, to go to teachers, to students, to the material base. It is our duty to give future generations a quality education", said Victor Parlicov.
The Republic of Moldova will benefit from a loan of 50 million dollars and a grant of 4.5 million dollars. Accordingly, 35 million dollars will be invested in the energy renovation of the 46 schools. The works will include several measures to ensure energy efficiency, such as thermal insulation of windows and roofs, replacement of windows and doors, renovation of the heating system and the lighting system. Heat pumps, solar thermal collectors and photovoltaic panels will also be installed. Another 15 million dollars will be invested in the modernization of the centralized thermal energy supply system of the municipality of Chisinau. More specifically, approximately 350 individual thermal points will be installed in some public institutions in Chisinau. The $4.5 million grant is intended for technical assistance and project implementation activities.
