Moldovan players shine in Sheriff Tiraspol's 8-0 victory
Sheriff Tiraspol dominated their match against FC Florești in the penultimate round of the first phase of the Moldovan Super League.
The "Wasps" secured a convincing 8-0 victory over the bottom-placed team. Notably, two goals were scored by Moldovan players, a rare occurrence for the Tiraspol-based side.
In the first half, Rasheed Akanbi scored two goals, and Abou Ouattara added another. At halftime, 19-year-old striker Veaceslav Kozma was introduced. In the 51st minute, he scored his first official goal for Sheriff.
Danila Forov, another Moldovan player, made it 5-0. FC Florești's misery continued as Ajak Riak scored twice near the end, and Rasheed Akanbi completed his hat-trick.
Sheriff has long secured first place in the standings. FC Florești, with one point and an incredible goal difference of 0-56, is firmly rooted at the bottom.
Also today, Dacia-Buiucani Chișinău drew 1-1 with Milsami Orhei. Maxim Focșa scored for the hosts, while Vasile Luchița found the net for the visitors.
Milsami currently sits in 5th place in the Super League standings, with Dacia-Buiucani occupying the 7th position.
