Moldovan forward sparks surprise in Romania
Moldovan forward Alexandru Boiciuc has been instrumental in Concordia Chiajna's recent success in Romania's second division.
His goals have propelled the team to notable victories, including a surprising win against league leaders Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc.
Concordia Chiajna caused an upset in the 13th round of the second division. The hosts took the lead through Robert Ion in the 24th minute before Boiciuc doubled their advantage in the 61st minute.
Boiciuc has now scored in three consecutive matches for Concordia, bringing his total to four goals since joining the club in September.
The away side pulled one goal back through Gabor Makrai in the 75th minute but were unable to salvage a point.
Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc remain top of the second division table, four points ahead of Steaua Bucharest, although they have played one game fewer. Concordia Chiajna are in 11th place.
