Notre-Dame Cathedral to reopen with grand ceremony on December 8
The reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris is drawing to a close. The monument will open its doors to the public and for religious services on December 8, with a religious ceremony anticipated to draw a massive crowd.
During the first week, the cathedral will stay open until 10:00 PM. Prominent heads of state and government officials are expected to attend the reopening ceremonies, as reported by RFI.
"Our eagerness to welcome the world once again is great," said Archbishop Laurent Ulrich of Paris to reporters. Furthermore, the cathedral’s rector, Archbishop Olivier Ribadeau-Dumas, stated that from December 16, normal operations would resume at Notre-Dame.
President Emmanuel Macron will visit the reconstruction site at the end of the month, offering an opportunity to express gratitude to those who contributed to this monumental restoration project. This will mark his seventh visit to the construction site.
On December 7, the day before the public reopening, the President will deliver a speech in front of the cathedral. Sources close to Emmanuel Macron told AFP that the five-year restoration of the cathedral is "a French success that all French people are called to celebrate, a success that builds on the success of the Olympic Games."
