Romania on the brink: One step away from Nations League promotion
Romania's national team is one step away from promotion to the Nations League's League B. This Friday, they will host Kosovo at the Arena Națională. A draw will be sufficient to secure top spot in their group.
Coach Mircea Lucescu has urged his players to approach the match with caution, warning them not to underestimate Kosovo. "Kosovo is a formidable team capable of beating anyone. They have players who ply their trade at top clubs in Western Europe. Just because they haven't been drawn into a strong group doesn't diminish their quality. The gap between national teams has narrowed. Young players are leaving their home countries early to join prestigious academies in Western Europe, and then returning to represent their national teams. This is a significant change from the past. I don't want people to underestimate the challenge," said Lucescu.
After four matchdays, Romania leads the group with 12 points, while Kosovo is second with 9. Lucescu's players aim to entertain the home crowd with a thrilling performance.
"As I've stated before, our goal is to win every match and top the group. Ultimately, we must focus on our own performance and secure a victory," said Romanian player Valentin Mihăilă.
Romania's final home match of the year will be against Cyprus on November 18th at the Arena Națională.
