Citizens from seven localities will elect their mayors on Sunday
Citizens with the right to vote in seven localities in the country will elect their mayors on Sunday, November 17. According to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), new local elections will be organized in Căușeni city, Căușeni district, Iliciovca commune, Florești district, Boșcana commune, Criuleni district, Arionești village, Dondușeni district, Antonești commune, Cantemir district, Clocușna village, Ocnița district and Popeștii de Jos village, Drochia district.
38 candidates were registered for the position of mayor, of which 28 are nominated by political parties, and another 10 are running independently. Over 25 thousand voters are expected at the polls. The 15 polling stations will be open between 07:00 and 21:00.
For these elections, the CEC printed 25,242 ballot papers, of which 20,195 were in Romanian and 5,047 in Russian.
The elections will be monitored by 25 national observers accredited by the CEC.
The CEC reminds that the voter who, for health or other valid reasons, cannot come to the polling station premises, can request to vote with a mobile ballot box. On election day, applications are approved by the electoral office until 2:00 p.m. only upon presentation of a medical certificate.
