Italy’s Air Force delivers 15 tons of aid to Gaza as part of 'Food for Gaza' initiative
An Italian Air Force plane departed on Saturday, carrying more than 15 tons of humanitarian aid intended for the people of Gaza, according to a statement from Italy’s Ministry of Defense, as reported by Reuters.
The C-130J aircraft, departing from Pisa, is carrying supplies provided by the charitable organisation Confederazione Nazionale delle Misericordie d'Italia.
Italy’s Defense Minister, Guido Crosetto, declared that Italy is resolute in doing everything within its power to support Gaza's civilian population and reaffirmed its dedication to easing tensions in the region.
"Italy does not forget those who are suffering and remains actively engaged in efforts to de-escalate the conflict," Crosetto stated.
The plane is set to land at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus, where the supplies will then be transported to Gaza.
Earlier this year, Italy initiated the Food for Gaza program, a flagship effort that has involved multiple aid deliveries to support civilians impacted by the conflict in the Palestinian enclave.
