Martin shocks the world, clinches MotoGP title
Jorge Martin made history by clinching his first MotoGP World Championship title. The 26-year-old Spanish rider secured third place in the season-ending Barcelona Grand Prix, which was enough to clinch the championship.
His compatriot Marc Marquez came in second with a time of 40 minutes, 26 seconds, and 2 tenths. Italian rider Francesco Bagnaia won the race, clocking a time of 40 minutes, 24 seconds, and 7 tenths.
"It's incredible! I don't know what to say. I'm overwhelmed! I dedicate this victory to my team and family. In the final laps, I couldn't even ride properly because I was crying," Martin said after the race.
Bagnaia, the reigning two-time champion, fought to defend his title until the last moment but ultimately finished the season in second place. In the final standings, the Italian accumulated 498 points, 10 fewer than Martin.
