Representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol met in Bender. The problems of schools with teaching in the Romanian language, on the discussion agenda
The political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol recently convened in Bender to discuss several pressing issues, including the challenges faced by schools that teach in the Romanian language. Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian of Chisinau and Vitali Ignatiev from Tiraspol met in the "1+1" format to address topics such as free movement, the situation of farmers in the Dubăsari district, and the activity of educational institutions teaching in Romanian.
"I am confident that only through constructive dialogue between the parties we can solve the problems that affect the inhabitants of both banks of the Nitru. We will focus our attention on the problems faced by educational institutions teaching in the Romanian language. Unfortunately, the previously signed agreements, regarding the eight schools with teaching in the Romanian language, are still being violated. We are talking about the lack of own buildings and the increase in tariffs for a number of bills. The illegal military record is also a problem that has not been solved and that primarily affects students and teachers, but also the entire educational system", said Oleg Serebrian.
Oleg Serebrian also recalled the recent cases when a group of writers and Studio L employees were denied access to the region, stressing that such destructive actions have a negative impact on the negotiation process.
"Unfortunately, Tiraspol continues to use the practice of groundless and illegal detentions of journalists and civil society leaders who inform society," Serebrian stressed.
Also, the head of the Bureau for Reintegration declared that Chisinau will continue to insist on the release from prison of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, who are illegally imprisoned by the separatist authorities.
We remind you that the relations between Chisinau and Tiraspol have been marked by stagnation and constant tensions throughout the last decades, with periodic attempts to resume negotiations to resolve the Transnistrian conflict. Despite the international framework established by the 5+2 negotiation format, real progress has been limited and political dialogue has been absent in recent years.
The former deputy prime minister for reintegration, Alexandru Flenchea, told Teleradio-Moldova that, although there is a certain level of technical dialogue, it is insufficient for real reintegration. "We are talking about an absent political dialogue, already for several years, in fact, more than a decade." He believes that the lack of a substantial political dialogue is one of the main barriers to solving the conflict.
