IGSU’s recommendations about the Yellow Code for sudden weather change

In light of the Yellow Code for sudden weather changes, which will be in effect from November 21 to 23 this year, the General Inspectorate for Emergencies (IGSU) urges drivers to prepare their vehicles by equipping them with anti-skid tires. It is important to stay informed through the bulletins issued by authorities regarding weather conditions.

Drivers are encouraged to respect speed limits, maintain a safe distance, and keep their headlights on while driving. In addition, the public is reminded to follow fire prevention guidelines when using heating sources and to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning by ensuring that rooms are adequately ventilated.

IGSU also emphasizes the need for adults to monitor minors closely to avoid any risky situations. In emergencies, citizens should call the 112 service immediately.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, there will be a sudden change in weather starting Thursday, with precipitation expected. Initially, this will come in the form of rain, which will gradually turn into sleet and snow, particularly in the northern and central regions of the country. Accumulations of sleet and snow are anticipated, and ice will likely form on the roads, along with wind gusts reaching 15-18 m/s. Additionally, on November 21, average air temperatures are expected to drop suddenly by 5-7°C.
