Natalia Gavrilița and Olivér Várhelyi discussed the calendar of accession and EU legislation’s transposition

Within the Council of Association Moldova - EU, in Brussels, PM Natalia Gavrilița discussed, at the meeting with the European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, structural reforms in justice, economy, public finances, the fight against corruption and the steps taken by the Republic of Moldova in recent months to fulfill the European agenda.

Besides the nine conditions of the European Commission to initiate accession negotiations, the Moldovan government must draft an action plan aiming to transpose European legislation. The European institutions are ready to provide support in this process, reiterated European Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, reads a statement issued by the Government.

Natalia Gavrilița mentioned, during the meeting, that the Republic of Moldova had made progress in terms of amending the legislation on the Superior Council of Magistracy, approving the new Electoral Code, the National Program for the Recovery of Criminal Assets, as well as public investment projects.

"We need a credible process of European integration, which ensures the support of EU member states for the launch of accession negotiations. Taking into account the fact that the European Commission's expansion package for 2023 is to be presented in the fall of the current year, we aim to make the necessary progress by June", said Prime Minister Gavrilița.

Also, the Head of Government thanked the European official for the financial assistance provided by the EU to the Republic of Moldova. According to her, the national authorities are to finalize, by the end of this month, the conditions for the disbursement of the second tranche of the macro-financial assistance package.
