Moldovans who have worked for at least 15 years in Italy will benefit from pensions
Moldovan citizens settled in Italy will benefit from pensions and other social benefits. An agreement in this regard was approved today by Parliament. It stipulates that our citizens must have a minimum work experience of 15 years, cumulatively, both on the territory of the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy.
"The document provides a framework of social security guarantees for Moldovan migrant workers who work or have worked in Italy or live there, but also for Italians settled in our country. The provisions will apply to employees, self-employed workers, staff of diplomatic missions and consular posts," reads the Parliament's press release.
Thus, citizens will benefit from old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by illness or an accident at work and survivor's pensions. Social benefits will be granted according to the proportional principle of calculating pensions. Thus, each contracting state will pay the pension part calculated in proportion to the insurance period completed on its territory, under the relevant national legislation.
We remind you that the Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Italy in the field of social security was signed on October 31, 2024.
