Obstruction of free movement on the bridge over the Nistru from Gura Bâcului – Bâcioc, to the attention of the Joint Control Commission

A consensus was not reached on signing the weekly report on the situation in the Security Zone, at the meeting of the Joint Control Commission, held on Thursday, November 28 in Bender. The refusal of the Transnistrian delegation to include in the document information about Tiraspol’s actions aimed at fortifying the illegal post in the town of Bâcioc, in the immediate vicinity of the bridge over the Nistru, led to the blocking of the process.

“In this way, Tiraspol intends to intensify the presence of its force structures in the Security Zone and to increase abusive controls on means of transport and citizens crossing the bridge,” reads a statement of the Reintegration Office.

According to the cited source, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova emphasized during the meeting that such actions were initiated by the Transnistrian force structures since the reopening of this traffic artery after a "costly" rehabilitation carried out with the support of external partners.

The actions of the Transnistrian structures, aimed at controlling the bridge connecting the localities of Gura Bâcului and Bâcioc, were criticized by the delegation of the Republic of Moldova, which believes that they affect free movement and contradict the peacekeeping mission.

The Reintegration Office announces that the debates on this subject will continue, as the delegations have not reached a consensus.
