Moldova strengthens airspace security amid increased drone threats
Another drone was discovered in the rural area of Podgoreni, Orhei district, the General Police Inspectorate reports.
The information was promptly conveyed to the relevant authorities, and public access to the crash site was restricted.
All specialized services are present at the scene, and staff from the Technical-Explosive Division of the Technical-Criminalistic and Judicial Expertise Center of the GPI are expected to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the aircraft.
It is worth mentioning that, throughout November, four additional drones were found on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, in the districts of Căușeni, Criuleni, Râșcani, and in the municipality of Chișinău.
Additionally, two more missiles passed through the airspace of the Republic of Moldova on November 17. Images of this kind were captured by residents of the village of Ruseni in the Edineț district.
Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi had previously stated that the radar purchased by Chișinău authorities at the end of last year is operational and fully fulfills its airspace monitoring mission. However, he noted that this system alone is insufficient, and additional radars with greater capabilities are expected to arrive in the country by the end of 2025.
The first Russian missile struck the Republic of Moldova on October 31, 2022, in Naslavcea, Ocnița.
