Romania triumphs over France in World Team Cup in Chengdu
The Romanian mixed table tennis team started the second phase of the World Team Cup on a strong note, which is taking place in Chengdu, China.
The "Red-Yellow-Blues" triumphed over the French national team with a score of 8-3.
In the first match, the mixed doubles, Bernadette Szocs and Ovidiu Ionescu emerged victorious against Camille Lutz/Esteban Dorr, winning 4:11, 11:7, 11:7.
The following match was the women's singles, in which Adina Diaconu defeated Audrey Zarif with set scores of 11:8, 11:2, 11:6.
Next, Eduard Ionescu won the men's singles match against Thibault Poret, with set scores of 12:10, 11:7, and 6:11.
In the women's doubles match, the Romanian team needed only one set win to secure victory. Bernadette Szocs and Eliza Samara lost the first set 7:11 but claimed the second set 11:6, and the match was halted as France could not catch up.
In the second phase of the World Cup, Romania is placed in a group alongside China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, France, the United States, and Germany.
