Victor Parlicov dismissed from office. Moldovan president signs the decree

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, signed a decree dismissing Victor Parlicov from his position as Minister of Energy, effective today, December 5.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Dorin Recean requested the resignations of Minister of Energy Victor Parlicov, the interim general director of "Energocom," Victor Bînzari, and Sergiu Tofilat, a member of the board of observers of "Moldovagaz." Recean accused them of failing to take the necessary measures to ensure the country’s natural gas supply.

Prime Minister Recean announced that he would assume responsibility for the Ministry of Energy until a new minister is appointed.

In a statement to the Public Broadcaster „Teleradio-Moldova”, Victor Parlicov said that such changes are a natural part of the political process.

"When you take on the role of minister, you accept the rules of the game from the start. As long as the Prime Minister and the government team need you, you are a minister; when they no longer need you, you are no longer a minister. I’ve understood this from the very beginning. I was not born a minister, and I have no intention of dying a minister. It is a natural process, but I will provide further details separately."

We remind you that Victor Parlicov was appointed as Minister of Energy by the President of the Republic of Moldova in February 2023.
