Maia Sandu supports Elena Lasconi in the Romanian presidential elections

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, announced her support for Elena Lasconi in the upcoming presidential elections in Romania. She described Lasconi as a courageous and authentic leader dedicated to promoting national unity. Maia Sandu made this announcement on her Facebook page.

"I will vote for Elena Lasconi because she is authentic, and I feel she loves Romania. The most dangerous thing for a nation is when it is consumed by fear and hostility. I understand that many of us are worried and are seeking a leader who can unite us. I believe Mrs. Lasconi has the courage and love for Romanians to unite our country and keep Romania on the right path," stated Maia Sandu.

The president emphasized the importance of collaboration between Moldova and Romania, praising Romania as a successful model for European integration.

"For us in the Republic of Moldova, Romania has always been a role model. Thanks to the efforts of the Romanian people, Romania stands proudly within the European Union. The progress is clear for all to see. This is why, we also aspire to join the European Union, but we need your support.

I am confident that Elena Lasconi will continue to strengthen the relationship with the Republic of Moldova and will carry forward the work we’ve begun together. We have many wonderful projects ahead of us. Our shared destiny is to create a free world—a future of well-being, stability, and development, which is what EU membership promises," the president added.

We remind you that the presidential elections in Romania will take place on Sunday, December 8. Voting for the diaspora will occur over three days, including in the Republic of Moldova, where 59 polling stations will be established.
