Romanian presidential elections // Voting in the second round continues in the Republic of Moldova, even though the election was canceled

The Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) decided to cancel the first round of the presidential elections, requiring the electoral process to restart from the beginning. Meanwhile, voting for the second round continues in the Republic of Moldova. Many individuals I spoke with at a polling station in Chisinau were unaware that the election in Romania were canceled.

In the first four hours after the opening of the 59 polling stations in the Republic of Moldova, over 7,900 people voted, representing about 18% of the more than 43,000 registered voters.

We remind you that the first round of the presidential elections in Romania was cancelled on December 6, just two days before the scheduled second round. This decision was made following the release of declassified information from Romanian intelligence services, which indicated that Romania was the target of a hybrid attack orchestrated by a foreign state actor. As a result of this ruling by the constitutional judges, the entire electoral process will be reset from scratch.
