Romania finishes fourth at Table Tennis World Cup
The Romanian mixed table tennis team finished fourth at the World Team Cup, held in Chengdu, China. In the bronze medal match, Romania was defeated by Hong Kong, 2-8.
In the first match, the mixed doubles pair of Elizabeta Samara and Eduard Ionescu lost 0-3 to Wing Nam / Yiu Kwan To. Next, Bernadette Szocs lost the women's singles match 1-2 to Hoi Kem Doo. Eduard Ionescu lost the men's singles match 1-2 to Chun Ting Wong. In the men's doubles, Darius Movileanu and Eduard Ionescu lost 4-11 to Wong Chun and Yiu Kwan To. The Asian team only needed one more set to clinch the bronze medal, so the match ended early.
China defeated South Korea 8-1 in the final.
