Energy Minister from Bucharest: Romania has the necessary energy resources to support the Republic of Moldova

"Romania is prepared for winter and has the resources to support the Republic of Moldova, if the situation requires it," said Romanian Energy Minister Sebastian Burduja.

The Energy Minister from Bucharest said in a Facebook post that the institution he leads is working closely with the relevant authorities in the Republic of Moldova and at the European level to manage the situation if a scenario such as "Gazprom" ceasing natural gas supplies is real.

In this regard, Sebastian Burduja said that a joint action plan was launched, to avoid surprises:

Dialogue between Romanian and Moldovan companies for the purchase of electricity, if necessary, on a commercial basis. Identification of technical solutions for the electricity supply through existing lines, including the 110 kV lines crossing the Prut.

Prioritizing the Republic of Moldova's access to gas

Increasing operational balancing capacities for gas stored in Romania, if there is a crisis in the Republic of Moldova, within the limits of availability, after ensuring domestic consumption.

"Romania has a duty, Europe has a duty not to abandon the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine in the face of aggressions coming from the East, be it in the form of tanks, missiles and hatred, or through barbaric blackmail in the energy sector", reads the message of the Romanian Minister of Energy.
