French man arrested for migrant camp massacre
At least five people were killed in a shooting that occurred on Saturday in a migrant camp near Dunkirk, northern France.
A 22-year-old French man surrendered to the gendarmerie in Ghyvelde, claiming responsibility for the killings, according to a police source cited by The Guardian.
French radio station France Bleu reported that three weapons were found in the suspect's car. Initial reports suggest that the first four victims, killed in Loon-Plage near the Mardyck migrant camp, were two security guards and two migrants.
A fifth victim, a 29-year-old man, was killed in Wormhout. Local authorities responded to reports of gunfire and found the man deceased. The victim was reportedly the director of a local transport company, who had gone outside after hearing a car in his yard.
The refugee charity Care4Calais has reported that refugees have been camping in the area for years.
