Klaus Iohannis did not appoint the prime minister
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis declared, on Friday, after consultations held at the Cotroceni Palace with the parties, that negotiations between the PSD, PNL, UDMR and minorities continue. The head of state says that after the appointment of the presidents of the two Chambers of Parliament, he will also come up with a proposal for prime minister.
"I invited the parliamentary parties to consultations to form the Government. The pro-European coalition, formed by the PSD, PNL, UDMR and Minorities, came with all the leaders together, they requested that the four leaders come together, they informed me that the negotiations to find a solid governmental equation are nearing completion", declared the head of state.
"There are premises that in a very short time we will have a finalized governmental formation following the negotiations", Iohannis also said, specifying that "these negotiations continue today".
"I am optimistic that, immediately after the vote of the Presidents of the two Chambers, I will come up with a nomination for the position of Prime Minister," concluded the Romanian president.
On Sunday, Iohannis held consultations with the parliamentary parties at the Cotroceni Palace to nominate a candidate for the position of Prime Minister. PSD, PNL, UDMR and the minorities went to the consultations together. According to Antena 3, Crin Antonescu is the coalition's proposal for the presidential elections. USR went to the meeting separately, and AUR, SOS and POT refused to participate in the consultations, according to HotNews.ro.
