72 entrepreneurs receive 41 million lei in grants for growth
Seventy-two entrepreneurs have been awarded grants totaling 41 million lei to support the development of their businesses.
These entrepreneurs come from a range of sectors, including agriculture and construction. As a result, they will be able to promote their products in foreign markets. A large portion of these grants was financed by the European Union. It is worth mentioning that, since the beginning of the year, the Organization for Business Development has distributed grants totaling 208 million lei to nearly 600 companies.
“A grant means that the state is investing in you—an entrepreneur who can grow, hire people, and pay taxes,” stated Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. “In this way, the state recovers its investment through taxes and the economic growth we need at a much faster pace.”
Mariana Mitrofan, from the village of Voloave in Soroca, makes traditional dishes, specifically babă neagră, a dessert that could potentially be included in the UNESCO heritage list.
“When we were children, there wasn’t a day—or holiday, especially Sundays—without this dessert on our table. I make babă neagră in a wood-fired oven, a tradition passed down from our great-grandparents, specifically from my grandmother. As a healthcare worker, I have adapted the recipe, reducing the amount of sugar and oil so it can be enjoyed by children and those with health issues. I plan to use this money to buy the essential equipment I desperately need—refrigerators, tables, and a food processor, which is crucial for my business.”
Gheorghe Tutunaru specializes in custom furniture production. He received a grant of two million lei to expand his family-owned business. He plans to export his products.
“For many years, we’ve been working on a project to produce a series of furniture for export to Romania. With the help of the government, we plan to purchase two machines: one for automatic cutting of particle board and another, a screw air compressor. This will be an invaluable support and a boost to grow our business, while also creating new jobs.”
Corina Novac owns a nursery and processes nuts. With the grant she received from the Organization for the Development of Entrepreneurship, she plans to buy equipment to help increase her production volume.
“This program will help us purchase a stapler to package our products and a sorting line for walnut and hazelnut kernels, especially after they’ve been cracked. This sorting line will help us increase our production from two tons to six tons per month, allowing us to expand into export markets,” said Corina.
This year, through the Organization for the Development of Entrepreneurship, grants totaling over 250 million lei have been distributed, benefiting nearly 600 companies.
