Turkey: Ammunition plant explosion kills 12
At least 12 people were killed and three others injured in an explosion at an ammunition plant in northwestern Turkey.
Governor Ismail Ustaoglu of Balikesir province announced that 12 of our citizens had lost their lives in the factory explosion in the Karesi district. Three other people were injured in the blast and hospitalized, with their injuries not considered life-threatening.
Footage from Turkish television stations shows metal panels and debris scattered around the factory, which partially collapsed according to the governor. Local authorities stated that the factory, where the explosion occurred, produces ammunition and civilian explosives.
According to news.ro, the factory is located approximately one kilometer from the nearest village, north of the city of Balikesir. An investigation has been launched, and authorities have ruled out the possibility of sabotage.
