Government to announce compensation program for businesses next week

The possibility of transferring certain activities from the production process to nighttime, to help limit energy consumption during peak hours, was examined during a meeting at the Government with representatives of the business community.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced that, next week, the compensation program for the business community will be launched.

"The government has prepared all the technical scenarios to ensure energy delivery, but we must also implement saving measures. We will limit the incidence of interruptions to the maximum, and we will ensure efficient communication, so that there is predictability for all consumers," Recean said.

The Prime Minister mentioned that the procurement of electricity in emergency mode will involve higher costs, therefore, in the long term, we will have to adapt to the market price of electricity, as happened in the case of natural gas. “By the end of 2025, we will have an independent electricity supply infrastructure,” the Prime Minister said.

Companies were encouraged to access programs to subsidize renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. “In 2024, investments in photovoltaic and wind power increased substantially, we will continue to encourage this. We must use this situation as an additional opportunity to invest in renewable energy,” the Prime Minister concluded.

We remind you that on December 16, a state of emergency was established in the Republic of Moldova for a period of 60 days, in connection with the risk of interruption of natural gas supplies to the left bank of the Nistru by the Russian Federation, which could lead to a humanitarian crisis in the region and cause the interruption of electricity production at the Cuciurgan Power Plant. Starting today, a crisis cell is active at the Government, which will ensure the efficient management of emergencies.
