Maia Sandu nominated Dorin Recean as the candidate for the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova

"We had consultations with the parliamentary factions. Following the discussions, I signed the decree by which I designated Dorin Recean as a candidate for the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova", said Maia Sandu in a briefing.

The Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu declared that in the following days, PAS will hold talks with Recean. "PAS will provide support to the new Government", declared Igor Grosu. For his part, the candidate designated for the position of prime minister, Dorin Recean, declared that the new government will proceed with actions on three dimensions: order and discipline in the institutions, a new life for the economy and peace and stability. Dorin Recean is presidential advisor to the President of the Republic of Moldova on security issues and holds the position of secretary general of the Supreme Security Council, starting on February 7, 2022. During the escalation of tensions in Transnistria during the war in Ukraine, Recean discussed in Varnița with separatist leader Vadim Krasnoselski. Recean was the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova in the Filat government in July 2012, replacing Alexei Roibu. Thus, Recean became the first civilian Minister of the Interior from the Republic of Moldova. Previously, he was also Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Technology. On May 31, 2013, after the fall of the Filat government, Dorin Recean remained Minister of the Interior in the new government led by Iurie Leancă.
