New energy tariffs approved in Moldova: Higher heating prices ahead

Residents in several regions of the Republic of Moldova are facing higher heating costs following a decision by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) to approve new tariffs.

The changes, announced on January 3, are driven by rising production and distribution costs. In Chișinău, the price for thermal energy supplied by Termoelectrica will increase from 1,824 lei (€95,04) to 2,510 lei (€130,79) per gigacalorie.

Similarly, "Apă-Canal Chișinău" consumers will pay 2,682 lei (€139,75), up from 2,241 lei (€116,77).

Other regions like Bălți, Comrat, and Glodeni will also see tariff hikes. Meanwhile, "Antermo" is the only company to reduce its tariffs, while "Comgaz-Plus" raises its prices as well.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is expected to announce increased compensation to help mitigate the financial impact of the price increases. The changes will take effect once officially published in the Official Gazette.
