The transnistrian region is facing multiple challenges in the context of the energy and economic crisis, which is affecting vital sectors such as education, health and social protection.

Preschool education and adaptation to the energy crisis

Although the number of places in kindergartens was established based on the demand of citizens, they are used only at half capacity. In contrast, there is an increased demand for the creation of night groups in kindergartens, given that some enterprises have switched to a night work regime.

We remind you that students studying at Russian-language schools in the region have not yet returned to classes, their vacation was extended until January 20.

We remind you that the crisis in the Transnistrian region was triggered by the cessation of natural gas supplies starting January 1.

The situation generated massive disconnections from gas, hot water and thermal energy in most localities. Several citizens, including those in the Security Zone, found themselves in the cold and without hot water after Gazprom stopped the delivery of natural gas. Currently, electricity for the left bank is still provided by the Cuciurgan Power Plant (MGRES), which operates on coal. Given the acute energy deficit, to avoid overloading the network, fan-shaped disconnections are being carried out. For Friday, January 10, outages of up to 5 hours are planned.

We recall that on December 11, 2024, the so-called Supreme Soviet of the Transnistrian region accepted the proposal of the self-proclaimed leader Vadim Krasnoselsky to establish a state of emergency in the economy for a period of 30 days.
