By refusing to attend the announced meeting, the Tiraspol administration demonstrates its lack of independence, instead adhering to directives from Moscow, stated political expert Ion Tăbârță.

According to him, the Kremlin aims to blame Chișinău for the energy crisis caused by inaction and to signal its unwillingness to engage in constructive dialogue with the separatist leadership to resolve the situation.

“It is clear that Tiraspol's current actions reflect how the Russian Federation operates against the Republic of Moldova,” commented Ion Tăbârță.

Chișinău and Tiraspol accuse one another of stalling the working meeting of political representatives, which was intended to establish a mechanism for delivering humanitarian aid to residents of the Transnistrian region. The Bureau for Reintegration Policies stated that its proposal to hold the meeting on Friday, January 17, in Chișinău, was declined by the Transnistrian side. Meanwhile, Tiraspol claimed that Chișinău had obstructed the meeting of the chief negotiators by allegedly refusing to hold it in Bender and once again casting doubt on the constitutional authorities' willingness to assist residents of the region.

Chișinău stated that its objectives for the meeting included obtaining Tiraspol's response on coal deliveries from Ukraine to sustain operations at the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant; identifying the urgent needs of hospitals, schools, and social centers; ensuring access for ambulances from the right bank of the Dniester to transport critically ill patients from the region; and forming an ad-hoc group to manage the crisis.
