Ukrainian Armed Forces official arrested amid corruption probe
The Chief Psychiatrist of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, who also serves as the Deputy Head of the Central Military Medical Commission, was arrested by the Security Service in Kyiv.
He was responsible for evaluating military suitability for service. According to the investigation, during the large-scale invasion, the official amassed assets valued at over one million dollars without legal justification. Meanwhile, Russian airstrikes continued today. The attacks targeted the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Poltava.
According to the Ukrainian Security Service, during a search of the Chief Psychiatrist’s property, authorities uncovered over $150,000 and €34,000. The investigation reveals that, over the past two years, he allegedly acquired assets worth more than one million dollars, which he registered under the names of family members and other close associates. Among the suspicious purchases are luxury cars, properties, and land.
While the investigation is ongoing, the terror continued in Ukraine today. The Russian army launched a missile attack on the Dnipropetrovsk region. Two people were injured, 150 homes were damaged, and two buildings were completely destroyed.
"My son came here, the house was full of glass shards, and he ran outside. Then a second explosion went off. The doors flew all the way to the window. It was a nightmare. I never imagined that at 40 years old, I would be left under the open sky." "My son ran outside, away from the window, and we stood by the wall, trembling. When it exploded again, I looked out the window, and the sky was still red, with a terrible glow," said the people.
The Russian army also attacked Kharkiv with drones. The bombing targeted a residential area in the northern part of the city. A drone strike also targeted the city of Kremenchuk. Several homes and vehicles were damaged. Additionally, the electrical infrastructure was affected, leaving 87 consumers without power.
