The Republic of Moldova will receive assistance from Slovenia in the EU accession process

.Janez Potocnik, the former chief negotiator for Slovenia's accession to the European Union, will assist Moldovan authorities in their efforts to join the EU. He is scheduled to visit Chisinau. This announcement was made by Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia, who is currently in Chisinau. She emphasized that the visit aims to strengthen relations between Slovenia and the Republic of Moldova at all levels.

"I am extremely honored to be the first Speaker of the National Assembly of Slovenia to undertake an official visit to the Republic of Moldova. This visit will strengthen relations on two levels: at the parliamentary level and at the national level. Our countries are keen to deepen their collaboration in these areas," stated Urška Klakočar Zupančič.

In response, the Parliament Speaker of the Republic of Moldova, Igor Grosu, emphasized the importance of Slovenia's support in advancing the European integration process and outlined the priority areas that were discussed.

"We exchanged information about the developments in our countries, at the EU level, in the region, and globally. We discussed the European integration process and greatly value the experience of our friends in the EU accession negotiation process. Several concrete steps will follow in the coming months, and we agreed to boost cooperation at the parliamentary level. This includes friendship groups, parliamentary committees, and executive-level collaboration. We also discussed ongoing reforms in areas such as justice, security, challenges in the energy sector, and the developments in Ukraine, along with the actions we are taking in this regard," said Igor Grosu.

It is worth mentioning that Urška Klakočar Zupančič, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia, is visiting the Republic of Moldova from January 22 to 24. This marks the first visit by a Speaker of the Slovenian Parliament to Moldova in the 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Moldova and Slovenia. The Slovenian delegation includes members of the Republic of Slovenia - Republic of Moldova Parliamentary Friendship Group, led by Miha Lamut, as well as the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Uršula Zore Tavčar.
