A new contingent of National Army soldiers deployed to Kosovo for peacekeeping operations
Forty-one soldiers from the National Army of the Republic of Moldova will participate in peacekeeping operations in Kosovo for six months. The group includes seven sappers, one staff officer, and thirty-three infantrymen. This year, two women will also join the peacekeeping mission. Additionally, the soldiers will be deployed in new uniforms.
"The mission set before us is to carry out patrols, guard important objectives, control the crowd, search, identify explosives and neutralize them. Our preparation was at least half a year, we had very good and rigorous training at the National Army Training Center", reported Radu Țurcanu, commander of KFOR-22.
The mandate of the KFOR-20 contingent in Kosovo will last six months. They will carry out security missions and guard military objectives.
"Our platoon is deployed within the Italian contingent. Our soldiers benefit from the same facilities as Italian soldiers . The National Army is starting the transition to a new uniform and the soldiers who represent us abroad are among the first," said Anatolie Nosatîi, Minister of Defense,
The Republic of Moldova has been deploying contingents of National Army soldiers to the KFOR mission in Kosovo since 2014.
