Energocom: Energy consumption for January 24, insured
Energocom announced that it has secured the necessary commercial electricity capacity at the border with Romania to fully meet consumption needs for January 24. Forecasts indicate that consumption on the right bank of the Nistru is expected to be similar on Friday, January 24, as it was on Thursday, January 23.
Domestic electricity demand will be met through energy generated by the district heating plants in Chișinău and Bălți, renewable energy installations, and imports based on bilateral contracts and the Romanian OPCOM exchange.
According to Energocom, the maximum commercial capacity at the border with Romania for the Republic of Moldova is limited to 315 MW on a continuous 24-hour basis, while the winter demand ranges between 650-800 MW. To address this shortfall, daily and intraday tenders are held to reserve additional capacity. This situation arises because the Republic of Moldova is synchronized with the Continental European Energy System ENTSO-E, along with Ukraine.
Recently, we observed that electricity consumption on the right bank of the Nistru has been fully met without the need to activate emergency contracts.
