The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, discussed several key challenges facing the country during her meeting with ambassadors from European states and G7 member countries, including the USA, Canada, and Japan. The topics included the impact of the energy crisis caused by Russia on citizens' living standards, justice reform, and the fight against corruption.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, during a recent meeting, the head of state emphasized that the energy crisis not only directly affects citizens but also serves as a tool of influence in the country's electoral processes.

In this context, Maia Sandu stressed that the Republic of Moldova is concentrating its efforts on ensuring energy security and reducing the economic vulnerability of its citizens. The Head of State expressed gratitude to international partners for their support, noting that this assistance is essential for the stability of the Republic of Moldova and the security of the entire region.

Justice reform was another key topic of discussion. The President of the Republic of Moldova stated that these reforms are not only a prerequisite for EU accession but also an expectation from citizens who desire a fair, independent, and efficient justice system.

“Reforms in the field of justice, particularly the external evaluation of judges, start to yield results and must continue at an accelerated pace,” the Head of State emphasized.

Additionally, the President highlighted the need to strengthen institutional frameworks to combat political corruption. She pointed out that a more stringent legal framework is necessary to effectively sanction those involved in political and electoral corruption—essential measures to ensure the integrity of parliamentary elections.
