Chisinau's latest proposal to Tiraspol: Gas, grants, and crisis relief

Chisinau has sent a letter to Tiraspol with the latest proposal from the authorities through the official communication channel used by political representatives in the ongoing negotiations regarding the Transnistrian settlement, announced the Reintegration Bureau.

Government spokesperson Daniel Vodă stated that the constitutional authorities are awaiting a "response and a well-considered decision in the best interests of the citizens on both sides of the Dniester River."

It should be noted that the Exceptional Situations Commission has approved a loan for the delivery of 3 million cubic meters of natural gas to the Transnistrian region. The gas is expected to reach the left bank of the Dniester under a loan agreement to be signed between "Moldovagaz" SA and "Tiraspoltransgaz" LLC. The agreement will be backed by the European Union.

Furthermore, the European Union will provide a grant of 30 million euros between February 1 and 10 for the purchase of natural gas, which will also be used to generate electricity for the right bank of the Dniester at crisis-relief prices.

It should be noted that, as of now, the self-declared leaders of Tiraspol have not commented on whether they will accept the offer from Chisinau, backed by the European Union. In this context, it is worth mentioning that recently, the Ukrainian authorities also proposed assistance to the Transnistrian region to alleviate the crisis by supplying coal, in some cases even for free, if they agree to generate electricity for both sides of the Dniester and the Odesa region.
