European Commissioner for Enlargement comes to Chisinau
The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, will visit the Republic of Moldova on February 4. The official made the announcement after the European Union decided to provide an emergency assistance package worth 64 million euros for the country's energy security.

In a post on the X platform, the official wrote that she is looking forward to getting to the Republic of Moldova. "We welcome the agreement on the EU offer on the €30 million emergency assistance package for the Republic of Moldova. This offer is a sign of the EU's solidarity with all the people of Moldova, including in Transnistrian region," wrote Marta Kos.
We remind you that today Prime Minister Dorin Recean announced that the Republic of Moldova will receive a grant worth 64 million euros from the European Union to solve the energy crisis. The financing contract will be signed with the European Commission, and the money will be used to support both the right bank of the Nistru and the Transnistrian region.
According to the prime minister, out of the total amount, 30 million euros will be allocated to the purchase of natural gas and electricity. Thus, 20 million euros will be allocated for the supply of gas to the Transnistrian region, and 10 million euros will be used for the purchase of electricity needed by the right bank of the Nistru. Another 34 million euros will represent budgetary support.

The European Commission team, led by Ursula von der Leyen, was approved by the European Parliament at the end of November, in Strasbourg. Among the 27 commissioners appointed is Marta Kos. The European Commissioner for Enlargement said that the objective is to work with Kyiv and Chisinau on the planned reforms, while maintaining momentum in the accession negotiations and supporting recovery and construction, in coordination with the G7 and other partners. Previously, Marta Kos was Ambassador of Slovenia to Germany from 2013 to 2017, and from 2017 to 2020 to Switzerland.
