Sweden will donate anti-tank weapons to the Republic of Moldova
Sweden plans to donate anti-tank weapons to the Republic of Moldova as part of the supplementary budget for the 18th package of military support to Ukraine. The value of the donation is 13 thousand Swedish kronor or 1.3 million euros. An announcement in this regard was made by the Government of Sweden.
Due to Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova is in a very vulnerable position, because of its geographical proximity to Ukraine and Russia's repeated influence campaigns against the country.
"The Republic of Moldova is in great need of assistance, including military support. It is in the interest of Sweden's foreign and security policy to assist the Republic of Moldova as a matter of urgency," reads the release.
Also, the Swedish government mentions that further supporting Ukraine and increasing engagement with other countries within the EU's Eastern Partnership, such as the Republic of Moldova, are important parts of Sweden's policy of limiting Russia's influence, freedom of action and ability to harm.
