Iurie Iovu signs for La Liga's Deportivo Alaves
Moldovan international Iurie Iovu has signed with Spanish La Liga club Deportivo Alaves. The 22-year-old defender is registered with Deportivo Alaves.
He is on loan from Croatian side NK Istra 1961 until the end of the season.
Iovu took part in a Spanish club initiative, and in December, he was one of three players chosen to continue training with Deportivo Alaves. The Moldovan defender was noted for his strong aerial ability, speed, and strength in challenges. Iovu will initially play for Deportivo Alaves' B team, but he hopes to catch the eye of the first-team coach.
Iurie Iovu came through the ranks at Zimbru Chișinău. He also played for the youth and reserve teams of Italian side Cagliari Calcio in Sardinia, before joining NK Istra 1961 in the Croatian top flight.
Iovu represented Moldova at youth level and has won four caps for the senior national team.
