Over 100 animal skulls dumped near Roșcani, police investigate

More than a hundred animal skulls of various species were found discarded in a field near Roșcani village in the Strășeni district.

The discovery was reported by concerned local residents, prompting authorities to launch an investigation. Local officials suspect that the remains were transported from Chișinău due to the large quantity—over 25 bags filled with skulls from animals such as sheep and goats.

Irina Gonța, the mayor of Roșcani, stated that she immediately notified the police and relevant agencies upon learning about the incident. Law enforcement officers, along with specialists from the National Food Safety Agency, visited the site on January 31 to assess the situation and initiate an investigation.

Residents have expressed outrage and concern over the potential health risks and environmental hazards posed by the illegal dumping, especially with warmer weather approaching. They are demanding that those responsible be identified and held accountable. The police are actively working to determine the source of the animal remains and the motives behind their disposal.
