New case of typhoid fever reported in the Republic of Moldova
A new case of imported typhoid fever was reported in our country, the second as of the beginning of this year. This was announced by the deputy head of the General Directorate for Medical and Social Assistance (DGAMS), Vladimir Bolocan, during the operational meeting of the Chisinau City Hall. According to him, it is a footballer who recently returned from Nigeria.

"The case was isolated, without spreading, and doctors provide medical care," said Vladimir Bolocan.
Also, the official announced that acute viral infections continue to increase, being recorded for the second consecutive week with an increase of a bout 15%.
"Fortunately, the hospitalization rate was lower last week, about 45.6%, which still allows us not to activate additional beds or warn about it; the epidemiological situation is under control," Bolocan stressed.
We remind you that on January 21, the National Public Health Agency (ANSP) reported the registration of an imported case of typhoid fever in a 20-year-old young man, originally from Nigeria and residing in the city of Tiraspol. He had returned from his home country.
In the Republic of Moldova, the last case of typhoid fever was reported in 2019 in a person returning from Iraq.
Typhoid fever is an infectious disease that manifests itself through fever that gradually increases every day, general weakness, headache, diarrhoea or constipation, and extreme fatigue.
