MFA condemns the violation of the Republic of Moldova's airspace: "It poses a risk to national security and our citizens"

Update: 17:34 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Moldova strongly condemns the violation of airspace by an unmanned aerial vehicle on the night of February 2 to 3. The authorities consider such actions unacceptable and qualify them as a potential risk to national security and citizens.

In this regard, the MFA announces that it is analyzing the circumstances of the incident and is in active dialogue with international partners to prevent such situations and strengthen airspace security.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains in permanent contact with the institutions responsible for monitoring and managing such situations, reaffirming the commitment of the Republic of Moldova to regional security and stability," reads the cited source.

An unmanned aerial vehicle violated the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. According to the Ministry of Defense, the case was recorded last night, between 00:30 and 00:45, on the Pavlivca, Ukraine — Carmanova commune — Maiac city — Grigoriopol route.

The unauthorized flight was detected and monitored by the airspace monitoring systems of the National Army. Subsequently, the aircraft left the airspace of the Republic of Moldova on the same route, the cited source states.

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, pieces of flying objects have fallen on the country's territory several times. The Moldovan authorities have repeatedly condemned the violation of our country's airspace and the war initiated by Russia in Ukraine.
