Chișinău Airport to manage its commercial spaces directly
Authorities may discontinue organizing tenders for commercial spaces at Chișinău International Airport.

This announcement was made by Roman Cojuhari, the Director of the Public Property Agency (APP). Authorities are considering the possibility of the airport’s administration taking over the management of these spaces. Such a decision would channel revenues toward developing aeronautical infrastructure.
“We are currently conducting a thorough assessment of the option for the airport itself to manage these spaces. This approach aims to streamline revenue flows and maximize income from these operations to support the development of the airport—not only in Chișinău but also at Mărculești Airport. The current airport team has proven effective in managing overall operations, and we are confident they will establish a team capable of efficiently handling these commercial spaces, thereby increasing state revenues,” stated Roman Cojuhari.
This measure may also be considered in light of the passenger terminal’s planned expansion.
“Following the expansion, existing spaces will be restructured, and new commercial areas will be developed. During this period, the airport will independently manage these spaces, provide regular reports, and closely monitor outcomes. If the airport proves successful in this role, it will continue managing them long-term,” Cojuhari added.
Last year, the Public Property Agency organized three tenders for leasing commercial spaces at Chișinău International Airport, all of which were unsuccessful. The first tender saw participation from only two companies. An investigation by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office found no evidence of power abuse or misconduct in the tender process. The second tender attracted just one company, which failed to submit all the required documents. The final tender, held in October last year, was canceled due to a lack of competition, with only one company participating in the selection process.
