Paun Rohovei, appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova

Paun Rohovei has been appointed as the new ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova. A decree confirming this appointment was signed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, on Friday, February 7.

Paun Rohovei is a Ukrainian diplomat who has been with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine since 1999. He has held diplomatic positions in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. In 2023, he was appointed as an ambassador-at-large by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Rohovei is actively involved in efforts to solve the Transnistrian conflict and advocates for the withdrawal of Russian troops from the region.

In March 2024, the position of ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Moldova became vacant following the dismissal of Mark Shevchenko by President Volodymyr Zelensky. Shevchenko had served in this role since 2020, succeeding Ivan Gnatishin, who was appointed in 2015.
