Former MP Dumitru Osipov passes away at 71
Former MP and scholar Dumitru Osipov died last night, at the age of 71. The sad news was announced by relatives and friends on social networks.

Colleagues and relatives describe him as a consummate professional, a man of integrity and a loyal friend. Those who knew and appreciated him sent messages of condolences, expressing their regret for the loss of a valuable man.
"Dumitru Osipov will be remembered as a consummate professional, a trusted colleague, a loyal friend, brother, good husband and father, and a reliable Romanian. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and appreciated him. May God rest him in peace", reads a message from relatives.
Journalist Ștefan Secăreanu also came with a message in his memory.
"Mitică Osipov, together with all his people from Ungheni, were and remain the most devoted members of our frontline team! Mitică loved us all as he loved his Country and People! We could not love him as he did with all his pure Romanian soul tormented by the thought of the country from which we were torn and for which we struggle! Mitică, forgive us for not being worthy of your love...", wrote Ștefan Secăreanu.
Dumitru Osipov was born on February 3, 1954, in Boghenii Vechi, Ungheni. He began his career as a researcher in the late 1970s. He graduated from the Technical University of Chisinau and continued his doctoral studies at the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences. For almost two decades, he worked as an engineer in applied physics.
In the late 1980s, he joined the National Liberation Movement, and in 1994 he was elected deputy on the People's Front lists. In 1998, he returned to Parliament from the Democratic Convention of Moldova, working until 2001 as deputy chairman of the Committee for Social Protection, Health and Family. Later, he was a senior consultant in the Committee for the Environment.
From 2005 to 2021, he worked at the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, where he was deputy head and coordinated the Information Syntheses Section. He contributed to the publication of the Environmental Statistical Yearbook.
