Over 67 thousand people visited the Republic of Moldova last year
In 2024, the number of foreign citizens who visited the Republic of Moldova through travel agencies increased by over 55 percent compared to 2023 and amounted to 67.6 thousand visitors. Most of the visitors were excursionists, meaning they came for a day of rest, recreation and leisure.
According to statistical data, most came from Romania, with a share of over 67 percent and Italy.
Also, the number of tourists and excursionists from our country who went abroad through travel agencies amounted to almost 400,000, but 10 percent more compared to the previous year. Almost all traveled for rest, recreation and leisure purposes.
Moldovan citizens preferred to travel to Turkey, with a share of about 46 percent, Bulgaria, with a share of 19 percent, Egypt, Romania and Greece.
Statistical data also reveal that the number of Moldovans who chose to visit tourist attractions in the country decreased by 6.5 percent compared to 2023 with over 91 thousand.
In 2024, the revenues of travel agencies and tour operators amounted to about 4.6 billion lei, by 10.4 percent more than in 2023.
